The owner of mine

I have had that feeling before;
Speaking between the lines,
Reviewing every word,
Pausing before letting go.

Denying yourself the respect
Because honesty is overrated
And the truth might as well taste as lies,
When truth is much harder to be spoken.

The urge to please oneself
Is a constant reminder that we’re not alone,
Even when I wish I was,
But I can’t claim my time as mine.

I can see it in you;
You’re trying to breath
But nothing gets through,
Because it’s not air your lacking.

When do we stop belonging to ourselves?
Our decisions, even our feelings are shared.
We become brokers of a body and a soul,
For reasons we can’t understand
Or a cause we no longer support.

But this can’t be the best of it,
I want to speak without fear
And act without remorse.
What we are lacking, my dear,
It’s to start living at all.

The best bad thing

I can’t help it, I like to feel wanted
To be wanted because of what I am
Because of how I behave
Because of how I make her feel
Not for what I could become
Or for what I’m capable to give
…but what am I?
…who am I really?
I’m afraid I haven’t figured that out yet
So neither can she be sure of me
But if I had to describe myself
I’m a moment, a smile, a pause in time
A mirage in the journey of life
I’m a coffee break at 3pm
Nothing more but nothing less
I’m a recreational Saturday in a long week
Or a stay home night watching Netflix
I’m not the perfect guy like she thought
I was just the perfect right-now
The sweet that turns sour with time
The adorable pet that given the chance
Will run away and never look back
So you see…
I’m responsible for the character I play
But she is responsible for staying
My necessity for pleasing others
And my lack of ability for saying NO
Keeps me here, chained to a commitment
We are life supporting a relationship
Extending the inevitable
She’s daydreaming that it will work
And I’m trying to wake her up
Without hurting her too much
For you, reading this tragedy
And if it’s not yet too late
Learn to enjoy the little things
For what they are, not what will be
Learn when to say good-bye
It’s better to leave with a smile

At the end

One day I will look back

In to the eyes of the old me

Or in that case, the young me

And I’ll regret some things I did

And I’ll complain for what I didn’t

For not jumping higher

For not running faster

For not fighting harder

One day I will miss the strength

And I will shout but my voice won’t come out

The beating of my heart will make a louder sound

For one day I’ll start becoming less of me

And start turning into more like them

Before my three hundred years expire

And the color in my eyes start turning pale

And the meat in my bones start to decay

I want to wear myself out

To take my body to the limit and way far

And maybe when that last day come

I’ll look back with my pale eyes in to my fierce eyes

And feel proud of the flame that burned with desire

And I’ll close my eyes and let the earth take my bones

And my soul… fly to the sky and shine like the sun
