Happiness overrated?

Yesterday evening when I was getting out of work, I read this post about a girl who wanted to be happy, but she didn’t established how, or what she considered “to be happy”. It made me think, or kind of analyze, what is happiness exactly and why is it the main goal for humans in their lifetime?
This was my answer to her post…

Probably happiness is overrated…
It is not even an action.
“to be happy”
“to be…
…happy?”
Look at it from the short term perspective,
The “try” more than the “be”.
“try happiness”
And the road to the goal
will be the goal itself.
It’s the “pursuit of happiness”
what fills us inside,
cause at the end,
happiness is like heaven;
everybody aspires to it
but once they get there
(if anybody gets there),
you won’t know about it.
Cause at the end
no one is completely happy,
there is something missing,
and that piece missing…
it’s the struggle to be happy

Barely human

I have developed a six sense,

cause I can’t describe the feeling
and I can’t name it just yet,
I just know it’s there, deep down.
Everything around you feels different;
the air, the space, time itself …my-self.
My whole body reacts to your presence
and I can feel you coming miles away.
It’s like a super power;
something I can not explain
but it manifests when I’m with you,
everytime I touch you,
or breathe close to you,
when I close my lips to your ear
and slowly blow words inside them,
when I bury my face in your hair
and just smell it
and it caress my cheeks.
It’s like a super power,
for the reaction it creates
It’s not natural,
It’s not human,
It just ain’t from this world.
Or maybe it’s an animal instinct,
a primitive reaction between us,
a magnetic force that bring us closer.
Whatever it might be
Whenever I’m with you
I’m barely human.

Broken dreams

I’m giving up on my dreams
I’m giving up to follow yours
because with you I care for me
even if the flame dies in the journey

I’m pursuing an unreachable goal
I assigned myself an impossible task
always dreamed of changing the world
To erase the pain and inspire smiles

But I can not give up on you
and I won’t let you give up either
because by reaching your dreams
I might find myself in the process

I don’t know what it is to be selfish
I feel I’m failing either way I go
but certainly don’t want to fail you
I would much rather fail the world

So I give myself to you
take me whole in flesh and soul
cause for the child in me, I’m too old
but for the father, yet too young
